Series Synopsis: Quiz show where a panel of experts would attempt to answer questions submitted by listeners. For the first few shows, a listener was paid two dollars for a question that was used, and five dollars more if the experts could not answer it correctly. When the show got its first sponsor (Canada Dry), the total amounts were increased to five and ten dollars respectively. A complete Encyclopędia Britannica was later added to the prize for questions that stumped the panel. The amounts went up to ten and twenty-five dollars when Lucky Strike took over sponsorship of the program. [Source: Wikipedia] The questions were generally much more difficult than those on other quiz programs on the air at the time, but the caveat was that the panelists (especially the three regular panelists) were very knowledgeable fellows. On the other hand, the show wasn't dry or boring at all, since all three regular panelists (Adams, Keiren and Levant) plus host Clifton Fadiman all had a great sense of humor, especially musician Levant. Each seemed to be encouraged to ad lib and at times were very, very funny.
