Series Synopsis: Captain Midnight grew out of the flying craze of the 1930s, which had been generated partly by The Air Adventures of Jimmie Allen. The Allen serial had been running regionally for Skelly Oil since 1933, and in 1938, when Skelly decided to create a new flying hero, writers Burtt and Moore were engaged from Jimmie Allen to develop and write it. Both had been flying aces in World War I, and Captain Midnight, their new hero, would come of similar stuff. On the Air: Then Encyclopedia of Old-Time Radio by John Dunning
